6 Things to Do at the St. Augustine Beach Pier

1. Fishing

The pier is a hot spot for fishermen hoping to reel in their next big catch! Bring your fishing poles and cast the line from the St. Augustine Beach Pier for a wide variety of local saltwater species including red snapper, flounder, and snook. You may even see a few dolphins or a spectacular sunset while you’re fishing!

Before casting your line, be sure to obtain a Florida fishing license. This is mandatory for recreational fishing in the state.

2. Music by the Sea Concerts

For over 15 years, the St. Augustine Beach Pier has hosted a popular (and completely free) concert series each summer. The concerts are held on Wednesdays at the pier park from May to September. Bring your beach chairs, a blanket, and a cooler filled with your favorite drinks and enjoy fantastic up-and-coming bands from all genres including jazz, 80’s cover, classic rock, pop, and more. Food and drink concessions will also be available if you choose to have dinner at the event.

3. St. Augustine Beach Pier Farmers Market

For unique gifts and souvenirs you won’t find anywhere else, stop by the pier on Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m for the farmers market. During your shopping excursion, you’ll come across a wide variety of fresh produce and interesting items such as tea towels, jewelry, home decor, organic teas and spices, and more.

4. Taste of the Beach

Each November, the St. Augustine Beach pier hosts another popular event known as Taste of the Beach. Local restaurants come to this food festival to share their top creations and compete for bragging rights. Visitors will also be treated to plenty of refreshments including beer, wine, and soft drinks.

5. St. Augustine Beach Surf Illumination Festival

Kick start your holiday season at the St. Augustine Beach Surf Illumination Festival! This family-friendly event provides plenty of Christmas cheer for people of all ages. In addition to witnessing the lighting of the Christmas tree, you’ll have the opportunity to indulge in food from local restaurants, watch wonderful performances of Christmas songs by the St. Augustine Youth Orchestra, and meet Santa!
